AE-240 Early Fall (Late Summer) '08

During week-2 thru week-7 we recorded an album side's worth of 3lbs of Love, sequenced it on tape and applied mostly analog magic to the tracks - bouncing, flanging, phasing, echo, editing and even seques...   Below you'll find the songs in order.  Download and play them in that order on as many different systems as possible and let me know what needs help.  I've already found one mistake on the first song, after the bass intro as the band comes in - it lasts a second - and the hint is that we started with ONLY the bass track (to hide the snare rattle), waiting to bring the other tracks in at the last second.

I LUV DIS BAND
3lbs of love, sometimes mis-spelled 3lbs. of love or Three pounds of love, is a Rock and Roll band based out of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band consists of members Ryan Pearson (Guitar and Lead Vocals), Jake Staron (Bass and bass vocals) and Jeff Kessler (one hand drums, screams, noise, etc..). Since their formation in the fall of 2005, they have been extensively touring the midwest and have released two live recordings entitled "Live at the Reverb" and "3lbs of Love, Live at the Reverb" both of which have received limited acclaim from close friends and family. It is rumored that 3lbs is in the process of creating a studio album on the Zamnasty record label with a release date in the summer of 2008.

Week-2 thru week-4
These nearly-live 4-track recordings include one stereo bounce and lead vocal overdubs, a great raw organic sound, simply executed.   "Rumsfeld" is pretty balanced overall.  "Walls" aggressivley translates the lyrics into sound - while a little shy of the punch and warmth I'd like to hear, I tweaked it a bit and perhaps we can reference one of these when we go back to remix.

Many thanks to all!

Rumsfeld

WALLS

27 August (re-bounce and re-mix) Please let me know if you have a preference...

  • raw mix (this was much better than last week's attempt, but just a bit bass lite and perhaps a bit harsh on the top)
  • processed mix (warmed the bottom, chilled the top, expanded the mid)
  • combo of above (ny style) (trying to have my kate and edith too)
